SYNOPSIS

"Atonement in the Past" is a new book/ebook in progress. It tells the story of a young man, Junior, from Texas, USA, who killed his brother Aster by accident when both of them were younger and playing cops and robbers in their backyard. Approximately twelve years later, while Junior was trying to take a screw out of an electrical panel at the basement of a library at Texas Christian University, he was accidentally electrocuted and vanished in thin air. When he regained consciousness, he found himself in the court of king Minos on the island of Crete, about 1450 BCE. People seem to be friendly and highly civilized. But things are not that simple as the island of Crete is subject to earthquakes, the threat of invasion by the Mycenaeans and the plot to assassinate the king by Arkal, the senior priest. A series of events unfold which shed light to everyday life in Minoan Crete which confirm or disprove certain Greek myths. The ebook will attempt to touch upon very sensitive issues that have to do with life after death, justice, crime and punishment, the purpose (if any) of life, the value of an individual life, and other matters of existential nature. This synopsis will be revised to keep pace with the progress of the ebook.
